Mundelein

Mundelein was incorporated in 1909. Today, this blossoming community is completely self-sufficient. The city has not only a thriving economy, but also excellent public services. Mundelein also boasts its own fire and police departments.

A range of recreational activities are offered throughout the community. Diamond Lake offers residents a wide number of water-related activities to choose from including boating, waterskiing, ice-skating and swimming. The Mundelein Park District maintains more than 20 regional parks covering 200-plus acres. Also within the community are five golf courses, a health and fitness center, a number of soccer and baseball fields, two bowling alleys, a public swimming pool and a public beach.

High school students within the community are served by Mundelein Consolidated High School District #120 and Libertyville High School District #128. Carmel High School, a parochial school, provides an educational alternative. Approximately 2,300 elementary and middle school students are diffused over four schools. Those who wish to pursue higher education will find plenty of universities and colleges suited to their desired major or trade. University of Saint Mary of the Lake is one of the better known universities within the area. Chicago’s many outstanding post-secondary schools are nearby as well, including Northwestern University, Rush University, DePaul University and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
